These are the posts that would have been made in-game from just after the release of the Vanguard compound to the night of the gathering at the Darken Hollow. I'll repost these if we actually start the Vanguard: Synthesis group here. :)

I added two more userpics, and nuked one of the old ones. The one on this entry is of my character on the MUD Flexible Survival, and the other is one of likely two that I'll be using for entries pertaining to the Vanguard game- It will appear here and on (probably) the Vanguard_X LJ group, if we use it.

Today was the final run of the Vanguard campaign. We started it up just over 4 years ago, but it rounds out to be about 4 years given a 4 month break in there somewhere. I'm going to miss playing Goblin, as she's been a lot of fun to play...

I Wanna be in another Supers game. :P

So for at least 6 months I've got Saturdays open. Fooey.

In other news, I've set the date for the Xmas party- It'll be Friday, January 2, 2009. It'll start as usual at around 5 PM and go til whenever. I'm going to go potluck again- the main course is to be breaded boneless chicken thighs and mashed potatoes, with most of the rest being brought in. I'll talk to people about finding out what they want to bring, if anything, before the actual day, and I'll also send out email invites/notifications.

Also, I have almost all of the shopping done, and all but one of the gifts so far collected have been wrapped- that last is waiting for an additional component. ;)

There are several things coming in the mail, and they'll all arrive before Thursday next week. One item is going to be picked up for me (to be paid back) and one, for my mom, I have to drive out to Anoka- I'm getting her a gift certificate to the Vineyard resturant.

Tomorrow is the next installment of the Buffy Horror Campaign, which will be the 23rd I'll have written up. See the post previous to this on for writeup #22! Right now I'm at work- Bleh.

Well, I PLANNED to get started on the cookies last night... But during the Silver Mantis Strike Force I started not feeling too hot- mostly a relentless headache. I know what it was from- being low on sleep for two days! So I ended up crashing at about midnight or so... I woke at 7:30 AM today. O well, at least I'm feeling better!

Today is the Vanguard campaign, and tonight is day one of the last three before the con. I might not get as many cookies done as I wanted, as they have to be done and with [livejournal.com profile] joshuwain before I leave Wednesday morning, But I'll at least have some. :)

Oh I got a little more good news- due to how the new mortgage was calculated, I didn't have to pay November's payment either! So a lil extra cash in the bank.

Tomorrow is the next Buffy run, so its a busy weekend.
realsorien: (Default)
Today I'll learn when and where the closing will take place. It'll be Friday for the day, what's unsure is the time and location. I know the title company, and so far I know it's on 2nd Ave. South, downtown... I think. That could easily change if an office is decided on in another location.

I have to write closure letters for Citicard and the computer loan (and get them printed out), and I'm debating closing the Chase/Amazon Visa as well... But on that I'm waffling. If they want me to close it, its gone. Otherwise I'll put it away and not use it, just to have the record of it existing on the credit score. I also need to get the most recent credit card/loan statements together. Not really a big deal.

The remaining cash after the cards and loan are paid gets direct-deposited into the account after the 3 day right of recission... Meaning it'll hit my account Wednesday. :)

So its about done. I can't wait. :)

In other news Saturday is the Vanguard game, and SUnday is the next run of the Buffy Horror campaign- I'm looking forward to, and dreading, both. ;) Friday night will be a Strike Force with the Mana Dragons/Kyn Empire City of Heroes group.

I'm writing a REAL short 'story' thing for Vanguard, which should go live in the next few days. I'll post it here and on the [livejournal.com profile] vanguard_x site for people to read. I'm also putting up a long-delayed post from Goblin on 'her' Livejournal; that will only be on the Vanguard journal. That I dunno as to when it'll be done. Its kind-of an overview of everything that's happened and some of her thoughts. From the game perspective, it will appear in her journal just before the fight with Stormlord starts.

Other than that, I'm at work. On Friday evening the Halloween party went well, and on Saturday the Vanguard campaign run, while it had some rough spots went pretty good as well. The story thing addresses some of the stuff from that- its kind-of a fragment. The Sunday Buffy Horror run was cancelled, unfortunately, due to two players being unable to attend.

... Thats it for now. :)

I'm pretty much recovered I think. Still the residual cruds from the cold to hack out, but I've finished the meds and I feel pretty much okay, if a bit wiped out. I did have one side effect of powerful antibiotics show up Sunday evening... Which I won't go further into... But I think I'm lucky it didn't hit til after the last pill was taken.

Currently I'm at work, day two of my workweek. Not a lot is happening, other than the usual stuff. Parking is even worse than usual, as now I can't park on the meters around the damn building because they've bagged the damn meters- they're working on the building facade. Fooey. I hope this crap is done before first snow, or this is gonna really suck.

In City of Heroes, I've set myself a goal of getting my recent Villain on Pinnacle, Endure (Claws/Willpower Stalker) to level 50 so I can play with the VEATs (Villain Elite ArcheTypes) finally. At the moment she's halfway to level 46, so if things go right (and I play WAAAY too much this week) I could possibly do it by Friday. :)

In terms of my actual 'to do' list, I still need to finish the damn garage doors and clean/vacuum the back room and my bedroom, and get the last 7th Sea for the set written up. Next Sunday we start back into the Buffy Horror campaign, with all the requisite anticipation and dread that entails. ;)

On Saturday we continue the Vanguard Campaign's wind-down to the end, though thats a few runs to come I suspect. I REALLY want a denouement on the campaign when we get that far! Goblin is a character that I'd like to revisit at some point- not as a character, but as the character in this game.

And that's pretty much what's going on right now. Right on the edge, I am.

This weekend went rather well for the most part. Friday I was able to team with some of the Local Group on City of Heroes, which of late hasn't been happening all that often. Got a level on Fire-Line, my Fire/War Mace Tanker out of the deal too. Saturday was the Vanguard game, and while I didn't get to do much I did get good food and a few side matters (kindasorta) settled. However... I started to feel a bit iffy there, like the mildew was getting to me or I was getting sick. I chalked it up to the former and went to work. I felt a bit off, but still nothing that I couldn't chalk up to my allergies screwing with me.

Then came Sunday. Unlike Saturday, where I slept like a rock (other than Spaz waking me by dancing on my head), I woke after about 4 1/2 hours or so. I still wasn't feeling all that bad, and so I made the chili for the Sunday game. It was a good batch, and the run itself was a blast. However, after I left I definitely was feeling like I had an oncoming chest cold.

Which brings us to now. I've a slightly stuffy head, an odd sensation in my chest and a low-grade fever. I'm nodding a bit, and I KNOW I'm sick. I'm gonna beg off work tonight, and hopefully I'll not miss more than a day. Unlike the coworker I think I got it from I won't keep coming in to infect the rest of the crew. :P

I just hope I didn't share the damn thing around. Sorry to people if they catch it.

Oh- and Amy's butterscotch rice krispy bars with chocolate-chip frosting were great. :)

Well I'm still alive and nothing dramatic happened. Last week, I started feeling a bit of a cold or flulike thing affecting me. By Sunday morning, it was definitely there, and I wasn't too happy. So I basically spent the weekend curled up and playing City of Heroes/City of Villains on the New Toy, or sleeping. Tuesday arrived, and my throat felt like I'd swallowed a handful of broken glass, so I called into work. As it turns out, it peaked at about 11 PM or so, thus validating my decision. RIght now, I feel okay. I'm a bit run down, but thats to be expected.

Hopefully I'll get the Werewolf synopsis done by Sunday, and the posts by Goblin up by Saturday. Right now I'm not in the mood to write, but I DO wanna get that stuff finished.

City of Heroes is a BLAST, by the way. :)
realsorien: (Default)
Something happened on FurryMUCK that really got me pissed... But that little statement is all I'm going to say about it, other than betraying people's trust is a really stupid thing to do if you wanna actually HAVE friends.

In other, less annoying news, I haven't made the homemade bread yet because there's been too much stuff going on. I'll try to get to it soon. The new toy remains in pieces til we get the processor ([livejournal.com profile] mirrdae should be picking it up after work today), and either [livejournal.com profile] mirrdae or maybe another of my techie friends can assist me with the assembly. Mostly I'm concerned about the processor- I really don't wanna fry it. That, and installing the OS. With some kind of miraculous luck I might be beating things up on Monday, with a razor-thin chance of earlier than that.

Other than that, I got the latest synopsis for the Vanguard campaign done. Its at http://community.livejournal.com/vanguard_x/22142.html so enjoy. :)

I'll get Goblin's posts up soon as well, plus the Werewolf synopsis from Sunday.
realsorien: (Default)
We played in the [livejournal.com profile] vanguard_x campaign yesterday, and boy will I have some posts in the community- a synopsis (because I did the synopses of the previous parts of the adventure) and several posts from Goblin. Today is the Werewolf game; normally, it'd be next Sunday, but because the GM wants to actually be able to SEE his wife, we've shifted weekends through the spring.

Late tonight I'll be attempting to make from-scratch bread, and I'll also make peanut butter chocolate chip bars. :)

Well then!

Yesterday was the continuance of the Werewolf Campaign that I and [livejournal.com profile] ataramos are in, returning after a short hiatus when the GM was unavailable and we (sans Ata) played in the Buffy Horror game instead. :) It was a fun run, and THIS time I have notes!

However, there were TONS of fiddly bits that I KNOW I won't get into the writeup. O well. I plan to have the writeup done and live in the next few days if things go well. We're playing again this coming Sunday, cos after that the scheduling goes to hell due to the holidays. We'll resume on the 7th of January, the day after the Xmas Party. :)

This coming Saturday is the next [livejournal.com profile] vanguard_x campaign run, which I'm looking forward to and my character Goblin is dreading... Nasty business there.

Well, now I've done it. I've decided to do a shit-ton of game-related writing. As it stands now, heres my projects:

1. Update #1 of the Goblin's Guide to Vanguard and the Secret Files. Done, save for posting and proofreading. :)

2. Write up the latest GURPs Horror/Buffy campaign run from last Sunday. I'll get started on this tonight.

3. Write up the ENTIRE Werewolf series of campaign runs. I plan to try to get this done, or at least a good start, by the next run, a week from this coming Sunday.

4. Write up the early Horror runs, starting with the first and ending with the first of the runs I've already written up. O.o

5. Integrate the Goblin's Guide updates in the existing posts, and put up a link to the new versions.

Given that each gamerun averages 6-10 pages in length with reasonable detail, this is gonna take a while. Ugh. But, its my own stupidhead decision to do it. Besides, its practice writing.

As to what's up right now- I'm at work and hungry, and I'm contemplating putting up the Xmas tree this evening. At least the tree, prolly the lights on it as well. And thats about it for now!

EDIT: #2 is now done! Next is the most recent Werewolf run, followed by all of the previously-unwritten adventures!

Today was a pleasant Sunday, even though I didn't get quite as much sleep as I wanted; that seems to be par for the course these days, however. I watched a bit of the Green Bay Packers v. Miami Dolphins game (go Pack!) before the Vikes v. Seahawks game started, and made a dinner for me, [livejournal.com profile] ataramos, [livejournal.com profile] mirrdae and [livejournal.com profile] zxizaraxii: breaded chicken breasts, mashed potatos and kernel corn. Yay, food and football! Both the Pack and the Vikes won, too! Sucks that the Dirty Birds (Atlanta Falcons) and the Fuckineers (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) won tho. And the Phoenix Cardinals continued their miserable slide with their loss to the Raiders(!!) today. Drummin' Denny Green shows off once again why he SUCKS.

Scary when I have to choose between two teams that I dislike- The Raiders with punk Randy Moss or Denny's Cardinals. Who ya gonna blame today, Den-Den?

In other things, I continue to lust over the prospect of getting City Of Heroes/Villains, plus some of the goodie packs- I can't afford it right now, but I WILL get it before the year is out. Xmas, possibly? Its a possibility there. I have to get a comp that can run it tho. [livejournal.com profile] mirrdae's old server Stormbringer is likely how I'll start out, but I still need $300 to buy it from him, and a monitor- I REALLY wanna get a nice flatscreen so I can set up and play in the living room, keyboard on my lap and trackball on the chair-arm... Ah, if I had money...

And we played [livejournal.com profile] vanguard_x yesterday... Much fun was had, and things went better than they could have but worse than I'd have liked- It was a particularly ugly situation, with a major NPC hero basically melting down emotionally and going on a bad-guy killing spree. Yick. See my post in that community for details.

Next week: The last of the Traveller D20 campaign run-set! I've got Scotty L. putting some info together for me so with any luck at all I should have the full campaign synopsis post together before then. With luck. :)
realsorien: (JumpGoblin)
Well then- the AC was still icing up so I had Reliant send out the serviceman again- he recharged the system again (a bit of a cheat, but we don't KNOW its leaking for sure), and now its back to working properly. As implied above, he suspects what I suspected- there's a leak in the lines somewhere. To trace it and fix it DOES cost somewhat, but it'll be a LOT cheaper than replacing the unit! So, we're gonna see if we can make it for the next month as-is, and get the trace-and-repair job done next spring. If we NEED it this year... I'll bite the bullet and get it fixed.

Onto other things- the problem that existed between me and a friend mentioned in previous posts has for the most part resolved via discussion and cooling-off. Obviously, there is prolly a problem that should sometime be adressed, but not right now. We both know that there were misunderstandings, and we've botn stepped back and reassessed so that we're past it and are back to normal. So THAT'S kinda solved, for those who were worried. :)

Next, as people who read this thing are aware I've been doing more writing- mostly game-run synopses and such, but its good practice and ANY writing helps your ability. I've been trying to work on doing in-story dialogue and 'written perspective', two things I'm BADLY deficient with. The next things coming up are the summary of the last run of the current cycle of the Buffy Horror campaign, and then some journal entries for the [livejournal.com profile] vanguard_x group, which I'm referring to as the 'Goblin's Guide to Vanguard' posts. :) I hope to have one or two of those up before Saturday, and with luck I'll have the Buffy run finished and 'live' here by Friday. With THAT one I need to talk to the players for details I can't recall.

Lessee, what else... Oh! The power supply for my old Ibook Indigo crapped out- we think its a busted wire or the like in the cord. But... [livejournal.com profile] ataramos found a refurbished one online, and now its back running! Hee- all I need now is to replace the battery and it'll be (almost) better than when I got it! ...Well, except for the blue rubbery bits of the case starting to peel off...

This weekend the Vanguard game returns, run by [livejournal.com profile] joshuwain; Our Heroes have travelled to Fey in pursuit of the maybe-or-maybe-not Evil Threat personified by the EPOCH computer persona, currently possessing the form of a formerly-comatose man PREVIOUSLY possessed by the formless stimulus-junkie called Shayde! Shayde may or may not STILL be in there! Join us for the next exciting episode within the Archipelago of Fey for... "Mountains of Madness from Molehills"! Be there!
realsorien: (Default)
In the [livejournal.com profile] vanguard_x group I'll be posting a few HUGE posts that are Goblin's musings and comments on all of the runs we've had so far. I'm up to issue 16 so far. I've not put any of these 'live' yet, cos I'm hoping that [livejournal.com profile] joshuwain can get me the dates that things happened in-game so I can put those in. Preferentially before the next run on Saturday... If he can't, I'll get 'em as ready as I can and they'll go live no later than Thursday this week. I'd just rather have the dates so people can indicate what they're replying to- each of the postings will comprise about 10 of the issues; an issue is generally several runs long, though in-game the time that passes can be wildly variable.

Worst case, I get the dates later and edit 'em. :)

As to other things... Today I get to snake out the drain for the basement kitchen sink. Yech. And clean the upstairs kitchen a bit. And maybe I'll type up the Horror Run from Sunday. We'll see about that.

Edit- I've got all the posts done, just need the dates if I can get them. :) Wow. Its a LOT of stuff...

Okay. For those that are interested, I'm in a DC Heroes Supers game called Vanguard, run by [livejournal.com profile] joshuwain; he's started a LJ group for the game called [livejournal.com profile] vanguard_x where we're supposed to post as our characters- Unless I note otherwise, my posts there are In Character. :)

The game was a blast, but I'm fugging fried now- the AC is still toast, and me and [livejournal.com profile] ataramos are sitting in the sweltering back room watching the tube and talking. I'll try to sleep later, maybe. Sometime during the day tomorrow the repairman for the central air unit will arrive, and soon thereafter blessed coolness will returneth. Yay!

Running on an hour of sleep with no AC really, really sucks. :P

Just a 'I'm still here' kinda post. The week has gone well for the most part, starting with the Traveller game on Sunday- The last run before we switch to the next of the three games we alternate between, I received much unearned satisfaction as my character, a Vargr named Deyn, was vindicated in many things when our group of starship skiptracers got sucked into Imperial Intelligence service... Which for Deyn is a dream come true, tho its a bit of a nightmare for some of the other characters. ;)

The next game up, starting on the 19th of this month, is the Werewolf game- I'm WAY looking forward to it. :) We'll play that for 5 runs or so, two weeks apart, then switch to a GURPs Horror game.

Tomorrow, I'm in our DC Heroes/Blood of Heroes game- NOT associated with the above games. Its called 'Vanguard' and is a VERY longstanding campaign world- [livejournal.com profile] joshuwain is the GM and creator of the world, of which the current incarnation is the... 10th? I think? In any case, look to his journal and he's got most of the runs posted there in synopsis form- somewhere in my journal I've a run or two described in my own words.

Playing in Vanguard are: Myself (Goblin, A nonhuman vaguely spiderman-like character with limited ability to alter her form), [livejournal.com profile] ataramos (Kaya- Capable of controlling kinetic motion, accelerating and decelerating objects in motion, including the air around her), [livejournal.com profile] foeclan (Dr. Chimera- A man with enhanced intellect who has been changed to semi-animalistic form by an experimental drug which interacted with the Vanguard agent in his body; he can mimic the ability of any chordate creature that he has had contact with), [livejournal.com profile] feezlekhan (Dru- Apparently a form of dryad, she is hyperstrong, capable of flight and projects solar beams as an attack), [livejournal.com profile] danshrugs (Poundstone- A Brick's Brick, hyperstrong and tough, and capable of shaping the earth itself) and Mysterian, a bizarre form of occultist who can 'feel' magic and mimic auras.

[livejournal.com profile] mirrdae formerly played Mr. Fixit, who was a gadgeteer who had the additional ability to repair almost ANYTHING. He may return to the game. :) [livejournal.com profile] kint was also a player briefly (2-3 runs), but left when he moved outstate RL.

As to other things... Life is. I paid bills tonight (OUCH! OO! EE! AAIEE!), and I'm about to make dinner. Sunday I think I'm gonna make my Swedish Meatballs, and indulge in something akin to real cooking. Tonight'll be Hamburger Helper.

Oh- and I found out that Orudis KT (Ketoprofen) gets my hand and neck to stop hurting. Yay!

Its Sunday, and I'm still sick. :P I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired... That being said, I'll live. It still bothers me somewhat that in the last two years I've been getting sick a LOT more than I did in the previous decade. Not that I never got sick- I did, but the general severity seems to have ramped up on me. Ick.

Anyway, yesterday we played in [livejournal.com profile] joshuwain's Vanguard campaign. Most of the run was the continuance, completion or ending of various sub-plots, and dealing with some of the real-world events that also took place in the campaign. I'm putting it behind a cut cos its HUGE. The run was titled "Life, or Something Like It", and was the 12th 'issue' of the campaign. :)

Well, its here. Whee!

My Xmas party on the 19th (Sunday) went quite well- Much lootage was distributed and received, and food was devoured in plenty. :) I got a pile of DVDs, which was exactly what I wanted, and also some Godzilla figurines (2" tall each, roughly). I also got (KickASS!!) a bottle of Banratty Mead, from Ireland, along with the word that a local liquor chain is now importing it! Lessee... What else? Oh, a gift certificate that contributed to the purchase of the special edition of Lord of the Rings- Return of the King, and a Drawing of my old character Savannah by [livejournal.com profile] feezlekahn.

As to other events- The Vanguard game took place on the 18th, with all players other than Atara, who is back home til the 10th, being present. I think we did alright, and kindasorta beat the bad guys= we threw a '21' at Dave [livejournal.com profile] joshuwain, in that we captured rather than massacring one of the villains, but all in all things went okay.

He's titled the next run 'Devoured'...

What a pleasant thought...

I volunteer Doc Chimera for the devour-ee!
