Still no net from work but...

I decided to watch 'Van Helsing', just to see what it was like, seeing as I have the movie...

Oboy.

How could a movie this bad actually make it to production? The only two good actors were Jackman and his sidekick, the female lead... Wow. I totally didn't care about her or her final disposition, the villian gave cartoons a bad name...

I could go on for some time. I will say I liked the design for their version of the Frankenstein's Monster, and of the werewolves... And the CGI and sets were at least okay. Beyond that, ugh.

My personal favorite was the werewolf doing the backstroke up the wall for absolutely no reason whatsoever. The only logical conclusion I can reach from the glut of action-horror movies of the past few years is that becoming a supernatural creature (werewolf, vampire, undead-ghost-thingy, whatever) makes you extremely sticky, rendering you capable of climbing walls and ceilings with ease. Though perhaps it's some sort of gravity power henceforth unobserved... wolves are known for their ability to rotate the plane of gravity, aren't they? :)

There's one villain-victim exchange that makes me giggle every time:

"I'd rather die than help you!"

"Oh, don't be boring. Everyone who says that DIES!"
