Okay, I just haven't been in the mood at all to get this silly thing written up. Hopefully I'll get it done tonight, but in case I don't here are my raw notes. For varied reasons last run was a lil short, but I'm sure that'll be made up for tomorrow! If I get the writeup done I'll post it in the morning.

Last time with the crew of the Legacy...

Our heroes were in the Lalandar system, having miraculously evaded conflict with the denizens of that system. Notably, this is the home system of one Commander Thomas Maddox. With the peaceful resolution of the potential conflict, they make port at the capital of the 7th district.

Maddox is reunited with his family, but has the sad news that his mother passed away while he and his companions were still frozen in transit to their first encounter with the Pioneer X. However, his brother and father are fine, and a party is arranged for the crew.

This went well, and at the end Maddox left to pick up his old flame from her home; “Don’t wait up” he tells Keisha and his brother Michael, and there we pick up...

Maddox misses out on the sunrise due to the fogged windows of his father’s Sportster... But he doesn’t mind.

Keisha wakes the next morning, feeling refreshed. Not much is happening, and the ship is just going to dayside cycle.

“Good morning, Captain Keisha! Keep hydrated! Captain Luke asked that you let him sleep in, as he isn’t feeling well!”

“I bet he isn’t.”

Deyn also awakes, and almost simultaneously as Keisha is told by Artemis,

“The people of sector seven wanted you to know that breakfast will be served in 25 minutes.”

He dresses in standard uniform, grabs a cup of coffee and heads off to the proffered breakfast.

Maddox is having ‘fun’ still with Margeret O’Shea, but things have wound down to quiet talk. She asks what his assignment is, and he evades- but he does let her know that things aren’t good.

“All I can say is that I’m going to try to make my way back.”

They make small talk, eventually making their way back to the central settlement.

“Breakfast is being served in 15 minutes...”

“I’m not up for shipboard breakfast...”

“Nono, its the community!”

After Maddox gets busy once again, and gets himself and Margeret cleaned up, the pair proceed to the breakfast a bit late. ;)

In the main common area he finds a breakfast set up, with the rest of the crew (sans Luke) and the local particulars in attendance. Its all synth food, but its definitely NOT military rations!

WIth Luke gone, the Alderman asks who speaks for the crew. Keisha takes the initiative, which causes Maddox and Deyn to exchange a shrug and a look.

The Alderman’s priority is basically to get trade reestablished. Keisha states that they should likely leave soon... Maddox will likely spend some more time with his family before they go.

In the meantime, Deyn gets a list of what the ship needs and starts collecting; Keisha goes and talks with the Alderman to let him know that they’re going to the scout base to gather the Scout’s data. He’s amenable, and they share a laugh about ‘not being shot’.

Once Keisha gets back to the ship, Maddox is already back. She tells him of the supply delay, but he says he’ll be along.

An hour later, they head out to the Scout base. Deyn gets then access to dock as a manual access, then goes in and starts deactivating systems. With a few close calls and disturbing countdowns, he manages to get the hallways deactivated. He has to consult is companions for what to do next, and while both Maddox and Keisha say engineering, she specifically explains the administrative protocols. “I hate administration, Its Why I’m a spook...”

With assistance at different points Deyn manages to reach maintenance/engineering. However, when he gets into the chamber, there are two problems- First, there is a demolitions charge of a type that he doesn’t recognize on the charge primer, and second... When he entered the room he missed something! All around him, infrared tripwires light up, trapping him!

He calls back to the ship, sending an optical feed of what he’s seeing. Surprisingly, Keisha recognizes the trip that set the tripwires off! “I can get that” she says, and heads in to help. It doesn’t take her long to disarm it. This leave Deyn with the demo charge.

He doesn’t recognise the device, but is able to id it via Luke; There are two ways to shut it down. One, a component they lack, and second, it can be frozen. Deyn has Keisha get him a canister of liquid nitrogen. He freezes it, and carries it out to dispose of it. But the Legacy is still docked! He asks Maddox to undock- the device starts to reactivate, and he throws it away barely in time!

THe blast does catch him and damages the airlock, but he survives handily. Once the area is safed (before Deyn thinks it’s safed though), Keisha reactivates the systems and the station powers up. Deyn goes to the bridge. He manages to hack into the systems, and gathers the information they need- First, the records of the scouts stationed here from the time of the attacks, then records of any sightings of ships conforming to those used by the Pelinoboc forces, then, at Maddox’ suggestion he just downloads the entire database.

Once this is accomplished, and an argument takes place as to whether to leave a drone at the base or not, Deyn resets everything as is was sans the bomb he disposed of, and they head back to District Seven Capitol.

It’s a short stop. They gather their supplies including the fusion cores (class E) that Artemis requested and prepare to exit. However, there is a delivery for Maddox- a small Universal Parcel Service tube. Inside it is a datcube and a ring- both from Margeret O’Shea! The datacube is much like the one his mother left him, though less extensive. She expects him back, and hopes that he’ll use this to remember her.

With that, they make their goodbyes and head out, escorted to the jump point with an honor guard.

They jump away...

Nothing in the new data is terribly useful, though there were scout contacts with Pelinoboc ships during the attacks. Prior to the attack, NO Pelinoboc vessels were ever sighted.

And the week comes and goes... And they don’t exit jump. Deyn and Maddox can’t find a single thing wrong. Maddox decides to take a look at jumpspace to see if it’s unusual- to do this he plans to go out on the hull! This gets slapped down hard, and instead he and Deyn look out through the viewport in the bridge! It’s... normal. At least for jumpspace.

And time goes on.

Week three of jump begins. Food is being rationed, and maddox is working on the concept of a ‘jump probe’ (add earlier notes in where appropriate.) He gets to a point, and called Luke down for his input. Which turns out to not be the best idea. Luke has been NOT sleeping working on his ‘project’, and by this point he’s not really sane from deprivation. Maddox knocks him out and puts him in the medbay. Now, he’d just told maddox that his equations were way off, and they weren’t; Deyn, who was looking in on Maddox starts checking, and confirms that Luke is indeed acting delusional! He then rechecks the figures.... And spots an improvement!

They’ve created a jump lifeboat! Now to build it.

THey pass into the fourth week...

Deyn starts deconstructing the Pelinoboc ships, two of the medium-sized vessels- He manages to find the likeliest location of the energy-drain weapon, and they put the data into the targetting system.

And about halfway through the week, they get that sinking feeling of jump-exit!

SIngle star, one planet and one mass...

And no stars. All the sky is black.

The interior of a giant black globe?

No. There’s just nothing out there...

Comm gets... KNOW? REM ‘End of the World’? Then Norman Greenbaum ‘Spirit of the Sky’? They can’t understand a single word though...

80% scatter of scans from the bizarre object...
