Well, Yesterday was okay. [livejournal.com profile] khirsahdrgn and Athrin got here... I thought they were arriving today! But this gave them time to get Khir moved downstairs and Athrin into Khir's old room. I got the marinara done, the chicken is in the fridge thawing, the cheese-cubes are cut and ready for the cheese-tray, and much of the cleaning is done.

However...

I decided to clean the bathroom. Originally, the plan was to leave the tub for later, and just close the shower doors. But, I couldn't stand how AWFUL it looked, and started in on it. I went through a full spraybottle of lysol tub & tile just doing the back, and that didn't get all of it. I then switched to 'The Works' tub and tile- I had 2 bottles of the stuff and figgered that would carry me through the rest of it.

WRONG.

It turned the soap scum and whatever else was clinging to the walls and sides of the tub into this pastelike... goo. Eurgh. The stuff was so obnoxious it made the scrub-sponge I was using into a useless cake of goo, just smearing the stuff around rather than removing it. I blew through two sponges, mostly after I started with 'The Works'.

I'm on a break from it for a bit. I'm gonna run to the store, if Cub is open, to get bread for the party- Bring the garlic bread too, [livejournal.com profile] firecatmn; it'll get eaten. :) I'll also be getting more scrub-sponges and the lysol cleaner. Notably, I'll NEVER use 'The Works' again, and I advise EVERYONE to avoid the crap.

Discounting what's done, I still have the floor and toilet to do. :P

I think this just may be my LEAST favorite chore, INCLUDING yardwork.

It's ok, everyone gets my name wrong. Especially when I start showing them the whole thing.

I really dunno why people don't use Soft Scrub...it has pumice in it, and is guaranteed to clean whatever your tub has on it. It's darn good. That Tub stuff I think is a useless waste of time. You can't substitute a soft chemical for an actual grit to scrub the stain off with.

Well...

Ever see Purple Power in the auto parts store? Stuff will eat through paint if you let it sit.. Let that sit on whatever you want for a few minutes and walk away. Come back with a scrub brush after dipping the brush and scrub away. It leaves a slight film but that comes off with a little soap and water afterward. Less work than the other stuff..
Paste stuff I've used; Orange Clean..WORKS! It has pumice or something in it, rinses clean too.

Just some ideas.

A mixture of baking soda, vinegar and salt will take care of almost anything. And is a lot cheeper than any cleaning product you'll buy off the shelf.
