Well, I've finally decided to have my neck and shoulder looked at. Those of you who know me are aware that I've had chronic neckpain for years, dating from the whiplash I had back in 1985, when I was rear-ended in my old '79 Malibu. Well, The headaches have become less sporadic and almost constant of late, so I think I need to have something done, even if its jusst better meds. AS to the shoulder, I don't know WHAT the heck is wrong there- Its been aching like a muscle strain for 3-4 weeks now, and to my knowledge I HAVEN'T strained it... Mom said it might be bursitis, whatever THAT is. Its not arthritis- it doesn't feel like that.

O well, I'll prolly make the appointment sometime later this week or next.

Bleah. I hate doctors.

WebMD says:

What Is Bursitis?

Bursitis is the inflammation or irritation of the bursa. The bursa is a sac filled with lubricating fluid, located between tissues such as bone, muscle, tendons, and skin, that decreases rubbing, friction, and irritation.

What Causes Bursitis?

This condition is most often caused by repetitive, minor impact on the area, or from a sudden, more serious injury. Age also plays a role. As tendons age they are able to tolerate stress less, are less elastic, and are easier to tear.

As far as I know, it's fairly common to have it in the shoulder joint. My mom has it in her left shoulder, she says it tends to flare up and then get better for awhile. Probably worth getting it looked at, though. Maybe they can give you some anti-inflammatory drugs or something.
