Something I've been fiddling with...

As a lot of you know, I'm in a Werewolf: The Apocalypse game as one of the round-robin games that get played on alternate Sundays. In that game, I play a Fianna Ahroun by the name of Mary Celeste O'Riley- I've been kind-of poking together a 'soundtrack' as a musical description of her life so far. I've two slots still open on the 'album', but I'm putting it up here.
Also, back when I started messing around with this idea I put together the refrain of a song to try and put together a representation of her mood and feelings when certain events happened pre-game start in Chicago with the Chicago Cairn and her. Lets just say that things didn't exactly go well...
Anyway, here is the album, and the lyrics. If someone wants to put the lyrics to music, go ahead- Just remember to credit the lyrics to me! :)
01. Division Bell / Pink Floyd- Before Mary went to the streets and before her family died.
02. Boulevard of Broken Dreams / Green Day- On the streets.
03. (Jamie and Ira and the IRA days)
04. Sunday, Bloody Sunday / U2- The shootout.
05. Let It Be / The Beatles- Pink Floyd- Last Days in Eire part 1
06. On the Turning Away / Pink Floyd- Last Days in Eire part 2
07. Consider Me Gone / Sting- Arrival in Chicago
08. Time / Hootie & the Blowfish- Quiet Times before revelations.
09. I Did My Time / Korn- Rejection of Birthright, Chicago Nights.
10. Run Like Hell / Pink Floyd- Bad dreams...
11. (The Warband and reconciliations)
12. Find The River / R.E.M.- The Future?
I came across the waters,
To find new life and times;
To heal my wounds and hurt no more,
To seek my unseen dreams;
But you came to my lonely door,
And I let you in;
You showed me things unknown before,
Now nothing's as it seemed;
Fuck You, Fuck Off,
This is MY life now!
I'll live it My Way,
And t' Hell with you and yours!
I'll see you down in Hell,
I'll sit and watch you fry;
Before I let yuir Fuckin' War,
Drag me down t' die!
I left you back along the road,
I walked away from that,
I denied you all your killing-dreams;
And Now I walk my path;
You stole my restive peace of mind,
You broke my hope and dreams;
You took from me what I had left,
And burned it in the streets;
Fuck You, Fuck Off,
This is MY life now!
I'll live it My Way,
And t' Hell with you and yours!
I'll see you down in Hell,
I'll sit and watch you fry;
Before I let yuir Fuckin' War,
Drag me down t' die!
And now I hurt inside and out,
Monsters haunt my dreams;
Now I've nowhere left in life,
No peace here will I find;
So damn you all Go burn in hell,
I'll not fight at all;
I've fought my wars, I've paid my dues;
My blood is mine, not yours!
Fuck You, Fuck Off,
This is MY life now!
I'll live it My Way,
And t' Hell with you and yours!
I'll see you down in Hell,
I'll sit and watch you fry;
Before I let yuir Fuckin' War,
Drag me down t' die!
I'll not let your Fuckin' War,
Drag me down to die!

Date: 2006-08-15 04:25 pm (UTC)It seems like it very much wants to rhyme, but doesnt. It sort of does, in a few places, which I think is what throws me off. Knowing the character and her history in the story, though, I think this fits very well and is well written, fits nicely, though. It just doesn't read well. Which doesn't mean that it's not bad lyrics, since there rae numerous songs out there that don't read well but sound better sung, but as a poem, it doesn't work. I can't critique a poem though, since I do not write them, and never have, and likely never will, since it's one form of writing that has never agreed with me whenever I've attempted it, and I don't know all the fussy different ways of writing one to tell you what might be technically wrong. They convey the meaning, but something just still feels stilted and wrong. :P
