Its been a while since I posted anything, so I decided to slap something up today. The last week and a half or so saw the return of my insomnia- it seems to finally be over, and I'm sleeping normally once again. I still don't know what triggers it, but I can deal with it. At work, I'm daring to have the laptop out again, so I have tunes- this started just a couple days ago... And this corresponds to my starting to sleep better again as well- connection? Maybe.

My reading has continued to be voracious, and over the last week I think I've gone through something like a book and a half every night- I've about... Five? New ones left, with several more en route in the mail. I plan to either go out today or tomorrow to get a few more. Mostly its 'supernatural fiction', which is to say contemporary fantasy leaning towards horror. No, I'm not reading Twilight, and I'll prolly go to work with the eye-spoons before I EVER read that tripe. :P

I did a little cooking the other day that came out nicely too. It was simple, but good: T-Bone steaks done medium with sauteed mushrooms and red and green peppers. Migod, I had a steak WITHOUT a potato! Who'd a thunk. I'll definitely be doing it again. In other food news I've started getting Bellatoria Sausage Italia extra-thin crust frozen pizzas- these are impressively good, nearing pizzaria quality for the flavor. They're kinda spicy (which I like) and perfect to have with a cold beer.

The Sunday Gaming Group is vaguely on hiatus due to the busy-ness of summer for several of the participants, so my gaming fix is being (barely) sated by playing Dungeons & Dragons Online. Its pretty damn good, and while I have a paid account for the added goodies you can play a lot of the content for free, earning DDO points to purchase the added content bit by bit. However, it doesn't make up for the lack of tabletop role-play, and I'm looking forward with little patience to the reinstatement of gaming.

That's pretty much it for life right now, other than I got some overtime the other night, and will get some holiday pay from the Fourth- right now the plan is to get a 16-gig Ipod Nano, but that may change if I find or am recommended a good 16 gig (or bigger; especially bigger!) MP3 player. I'm mainly looking at the Ipod as all of my music is on the Macbook and I'm looking at ease-of-transfer. Recommendations will definitely be considered, especially if there's something bigger than 16 gigs available for a similar or lower price. I don't want a Classic- I want no-moving-part reliability- hard drives are more likely to get trashed by klutz-me.

Today I decided, since I had some extra cash that I was going to go out and get a new DVD. Or something. So, to that purpose I ran over to Best Buy to just kinda browse. What I ended up with was a bit more than I planned, and not exactly a DVD...

I picked up V For Vendetta, and some music: Steely Dan- The Definitive Collection, Aerosmith- O Yeah! Ultimate Aerosmith hits (basically a new Greatest Hits collection) and The Beatles- Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. This last I had previously, but it vanooshed years ago. So for the most part I have more tunage, and I'm currently dumping them into the laptop. :)

Oh... And last night after dinner at Applebee's we did do City of Heroes to all hours. As for dinner itself, I had the Mini French Dip Sliders... Which now seem to be living up to their unfortunate sobriquet... :P

Never again. Good taste, bad side effects.

Not a lot up, I go back to work tonight as my weekend is now almost over. The new laptop is real nice, and I'm using it a lot- pretty much like I did the old one, which is now fully charged once again. I know there's still a problem, but heck, as long as it runs I'm keeping it. :)

On Friday I deposited my Federal return check. $500 goes 'invisible' for emergencies, $1000 is set aside for the trip in November to Midwest Furfest, and the remaining bit goes to pay for the laptop. As of that, all but $200 is paid for, and part of that is the printer. :) $100 of THAT goes when the printer rebate arrives, and the last of it goes when the property tax rebate arrives. Yay!

I'm now watching ebay off and on for a copy of Adobe PS. I've stripped the copy of Photoshop 7 I had on this and the old laptop, as it seems well and truly fried. My pricerange for the new version is about $100 or so- WAY below the new cost, I know, but I've seen PS 2 and 3 in that range before.

Other than that, I paid bills, got groceries and picked up comics on Friday. That's sums up the unendurably exciting life I lead. Oh- Last week I put in for my birthday off as paid vacation- dunno what I'll do, but even just NOT BEING AT WORK will be nice.

Buh. nearly forgot- I picked up the soundtrack to Watchmen and the DVD of Desperaux too.

And THAT'S it. Really.

Saturday.

Not a lot went on, though I got Shadowmatch (Dark/Dark Scrapper) to level 48 (She started at L42) between Friday evening and the play today, and also got Coalesced (Archery/Psychic Blaster) up a level as well. I also did a bit more work in the base. Yeah, lots of City of Heroes on double-exp. weekend. ;)

Other than that, I've started the process of upgrading and fixing the Ibook up to make it last as long as I can. I've now got it running Mac OX X 10.5.4, which works nice, and allows me to once again install .dmg files, which the older version couldn't read due to a more recent format-change. Bad thing, I may have to replace or at least reload my copy of Photoshop. Oh well, its old anyway and I can find a copy of CS on ebay for a tolerable price.

Next up will be upping the memory stick from 512 mb to a gig- that'll be about $20 to $40. After that its a new hard drive, which is probably the most expensive given I may have it installed at the Apple store. After that its a new keyboard and fixing the damaged USB port and power cord connection port- both have finicky connection issues. Lastly, A new battery and maybe a new power supply, but those can wait.

Also today I picked up the WALL-E soundtrack, and a replacement copy of Fleetwood Mac's greatest hits- my old copy had a bad gouge across a few tracks from being carried in a cheap CD player. :P

Other than a nap before work, that was the day. I'm now at work, and looking forward to the Traveller campaign tonight!

Music!

I just broke down and ordered some music! Styx: Paradise Theater, Pink Floyd: Wish You Were Here and the Chess Broadway Soundtrack. :) I've had the first two in the past, and I've always wanted the third. Yay!

Other than that, not a lot is up. I made beef roast (with carrots, onions and potatos) for dinner, and I have leftovers for sandwiches.

Exciting, huh?

I figured it was about time that I posted an update here, so here goes. Not a lot has been going on, mostly just the usual stuff at work and at home. I've finally started dumping my music CDs onto the laptop, and I've now got more than a gig of music on the thing. I've roughly 4 or 5 gigs of space left on my 40 gig drive, though, which is getting me considering the purchase of a 100 gig drive, maybe bigger. Especially since the laptop is at about the age where the drive failed in the old Ibook Indigo. But, we'll see. I don't really have the cash for it after all.

I also finally read Dante's Inferno and The Canterbury Tales; I have to say that the latter are pretty... Dry. Oh well. At least this translation of The Inferno didn't put me to sleep in two paragraphs! Next up on the reading list is the complete stories of Sherlock Holmes. After that, maybe some of the other 'classic' literature I've got around here, possibly all of the Shakespere plays.

As to writing, I've got the next game-writeup for our Sunday game done, which is the third installment of the Traveller set- I need to get a name to finish it though- More than likely it'll be live here Tuesday evening or Wednesday sometime.

A final note- Yes, I'm still hooked on City of Heroes. I'm kinda flipping back and forth between Genetic Blue (L34 Invuln/Energy Tank) and a newer character, ShadowMatch (L18 Dark/Dark Scrapper)- She's got wings! I'll get her pic(s) and background up this week too.

As a lot of you know, I'm in a Werewolf: The Apocalypse game as one of the round-robin games that get played on alternate Sundays. In that game, I play a Fianna Ahroun by the name of Mary Celeste O'Riley- I've been kind-of poking together a 'soundtrack' as a musical description of her life so far. I've two slots still open on the 'album', but I'm putting it up here.

Also, back when I started messing around with this idea I put together the refrain of a song to try and put together a representation of her mood and feelings when certain events happened pre-game start in Chicago with the Chicago Cairn and her. Lets just say that things didn't exactly go well...

Anyway, here is the album, and the lyrics. If someone wants to put the lyrics to music, go ahead- Just remember to credit the lyrics to me! :)

Wow. I got CRABBY at the end of that post! I wonder why... O well. Not crabby now- Blasted Queen's 'A Kind of Magic' CD and rocked out some. :) Just waiting about, til its time for my 1st round at work. Whee.

... Organized religion IS hypocritical, tho. (giggle)

Sori tries to stir stuff up a bit...
