More Comical Books!
Jul. 31st, 2025 04:26 amThe latest thing obtained is Volumes 1-4 of Walter Simonsons run on THOR from 1982-1986. This was probably the bets Thor ever got, and is where the characters of Malekith the Dark Elf and Beta Ray Bill first appeared. Awesome stuff. But... I have to wait til mid-month for them to arrive, O well.
I've been poking at stories as well, and Harun, my Swords & Sorcery piece has mutated massively. I have a ton of wotrk left, and I ahve to decide what the mysterious 'bloodless murders' are and how they connect to the Ghouls that wiped out the survivors of two armies...
I'm trill pecking away at the second of the three prelude stories to my novel-attempt. I think I'm close to having it in shape to try and publish, but given it's at about 13k, it might be a hard sell; I don't really know.
The first story, of Ranah's first theft is probably a touch short. The third, concerning Pavel the fire-wielding Gifted Russian (his name might change), is pretty done, I think. I'll probably do a few more cleanup-passes.
As to the novel itself, titled 'Bear Fasle Witness', It needs a LOT of work. I need to get it to 100k words or thereabouts, from a current 63k or so. I have enough material, it's a matter of knuckling down and working on it. It's honestly pretty damn daunting- IF I finish it, this will be the firstthing I've ever gotten to novel-length. And maybe, my first published work. I'm thinking of trying to submit the three shorts at the same time, having them published somewhere like Amazing or Clarke's World, one a month before BFW comes out, if possible.
Before that, of course, I need to get them all into shape, and finish BFS. I should delineate the world more too, just for the record so I know what's what and have referents.
I DO know the world and how it differs from ours. I'm CERTAIN it'll piss some people off. Probable a LOT of people, but controversy is good for sales. And I don't have motives here; it just popped into my head as a story. While the backdrop has a LOT of religious overtones, I'm agnostic at best.
The three initial stories are: One Sunny Day, Thief of Luck and Fire Burns.
