I was going to go to Uncle Hugo's bookstore, but it closed at 5 PM. Which is when I usually get up. So instead, with
foeclan and
feezlekahn I hit the Roseville Half-Price Books and Barnes & Noble. Therein I spent WAY too much money. At Half-Price I got three Dashiel Hammett novels (The Thin Man, The Glass Key and Red Harvest), Dragons of the Cuyohoga by S. Andrew Swann and a DVD I've been looking for: Varan the Unbelievable, one of Toho's lesser-known giant rubber critters, directed by Inushiro Honda. Yay!
At Barnes & Noble, I got Regenesis by C.J. Cherryh, which is the latest of the Alliance/Union/Compact Universe, and the Watchmen graphic novel, which I've read (LONG ago) but never owned. Thereafter, I was feeling peckish and suggested food;
foeclan initially demurred, but when
joshuwain called him plans were quickly made to meet at Old Chicago, which was kinda right there. Dinner was good, and now I'm home somewhat poorer but with a lot of stuff to read. :)
