The I35W bridge over the Mississippi River in Minneapolis between Washington and University Avenues collapsed today at roughly 6 PM, during rush hour and the buildup to a Minnesota Twins (Baseball) Game; 50-100 cars were on the bridge, as were an unknown number of construction workers. There is only one confirmed fatality at this point, but I doubt it'll stay that low. There has been speculation as to WHY it collapsed, but no data is in as of yet. However, the construction on the bridge, which was a resurfacing project, has been RULED OUT. If you can get a local (to MN) newsfeed on the Net or watch on TV, that'll be your best source for information. CNN has 3 fatalities reported, but I've heard nothing beyond one.

Notably I'm okay. There's only one person whom I'm concerned about at this point, but I'll not say who so as to not worry people unduly.

Please, don't start or spread speculative rumors about the whys and hows of this- it just feeds the conspiracy loonies and helps nobody.
