Okay, so my weekend actually is Friday and Saturday nights, but still. On Thursday I had a CEU class for work instead of my normal shift, so I was up all day at that instead of asleep. I crashed when I got home, getting up about four hours later. I ended up crashing early again that night (for me), around 4 AM or so. Friday was quiet, til the evening when I, [livejournal.com profile] joshuwain, [livejournal.com profile] foeclan and [livejournal.com profile] feezlekahn all did a little shopping run to two of the Half Price Books stores, Best Buy and a little used DVD place. I struck out on what I was after (the True Blood first two seasons sets), but I did get 'Cronkite Remembers', which is a autobiographical series by Unka Walt himself. It was ten bucks, so hey. I already have my folks wanting to borrow it! Oh- I DID find what I wanted online after, for the price I was limiting myself to- woot.

Also that night we ate at a little hole in the wall called 'Jimbos'. Its an ancient little dive restaurant off highway 10 in Blaine, that I always saw while I grew up. Never ate there before now, but I liked it- good, if not five-star food. The marinera was too sweet for me, but it was cheap and filling.

After all that, groceries were purchased and people headed for home. I once again crashed early, forgetting to make the Swedish meatballs for the game on Saturday. Fortunately, I woke with plenty of time to get 'em done. three pounds of meatballs went over well and were gone save for two!

The game, a Dresden Files short (test?) run, was a blast, It was the last run of the limited run, so the Saturday group is now going back to the Skylands campaign, which I'm not in.

Sunday was for the most part quiet, save that whilst I was holding Spaz, he freaked out for some reason and ripped my face pretty nastily. Its not actually that bad, but it looks like I was in a fight. I think he's gonna go to the vet to see about kitty-Ritalin or something else- he's WAY too strung, all the time, and I'm tired of his chasing Lady.

And now, I'm off to work. Bleah.

Movies!

Tonight I had [livejournal.com profile] feezlekahn and [livejournal.com profile] foeclan over to watch a couple movies. The first was 'Monster X Returns: Attack the G8 Summit!' and it was as bad as the title indicates. Its kind-of a sequel to 'The X From Outer Space aka Guilala', but more its a bad-comedy spoof.

The second film was 'Space Amoeba', better known as 'Yog Monster From Space'. Its a film from my youth, and it was 'better' than the first flick in a relative way... Regardless, I enjoyed them. ;)

Now I'm making dinner, and they've headed home. :)

Bleagh.

Well, I either have a mild cold or something has kicked my allergies into overdrive. As I feel otherwise fine, I suspect its the allergies. Furthermore, I think I knwo what the trigger was- I have one of those little glade scent-things that plugs into a wall socket and heats a gel to produce a scent; previously, it was an apple-cinnamon scent. I tried today a new fragrance, supposedly meant to smell like fresh laundry. What is actually smells like is fabric softener...

A scent that sets my allergies off, including a minor skin reaction (sensitivity). So, I've ditched that gel-pack, and put in an apple cinnamon one. Now I just have t owait for that crap to get out of the air. :P

Other than that, yesterday evening I went out with [livejournal.com profile] feezlekahn to get him a birthday present. Also along was [livejournal.com profile] zxizaraxii. Of course, I ended up getting stuff for myself too, a bunch of new movies. One of these is of particular interest- its a sequel to an old giant monster flick called 'Guilala' that I've been trying to find for years! Now maybe they'll release the original to DVD so we can revel in its devastating badness... ;)

Today I decided, since I had some extra cash that I was going to go out and get a new DVD. Or something. So, to that purpose I ran over to Best Buy to just kinda browse. What I ended up with was a bit more than I planned, and not exactly a DVD...

I picked up V For Vendetta, and some music: Steely Dan- The Definitive Collection, Aerosmith- O Yeah! Ultimate Aerosmith hits (basically a new Greatest Hits collection) and The Beatles- Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. This last I had previously, but it vanooshed years ago. So for the most part I have more tunage, and I'm currently dumping them into the laptop. :)

Oh... And last night after dinner at Applebee's we did do City of Heroes to all hours. As for dinner itself, I had the Mini French Dip Sliders... Which now seem to be living up to their unfortunate sobriquet... :P

Never again. Good taste, bad side effects.

Not a lot up, I go back to work tonight as my weekend is now almost over. The new laptop is real nice, and I'm using it a lot- pretty much like I did the old one, which is now fully charged once again. I know there's still a problem, but heck, as long as it runs I'm keeping it. :)

On Friday I deposited my Federal return check. $500 goes 'invisible' for emergencies, $1000 is set aside for the trip in November to Midwest Furfest, and the remaining bit goes to pay for the laptop. As of that, all but $200 is paid for, and part of that is the printer. :) $100 of THAT goes when the printer rebate arrives, and the last of it goes when the property tax rebate arrives. Yay!

I'm now watching ebay off and on for a copy of Adobe PS. I've stripped the copy of Photoshop 7 I had on this and the old laptop, as it seems well and truly fried. My pricerange for the new version is about $100 or so- WAY below the new cost, I know, but I've seen PS 2 and 3 in that range before.

Other than that, I paid bills, got groceries and picked up comics on Friday. That's sums up the unendurably exciting life I lead. Oh- Last week I put in for my birthday off as paid vacation- dunno what I'll do, but even just NOT BEING AT WORK will be nice.

Buh. nearly forgot- I picked up the soundtrack to Watchmen and the DVD of Desperaux too.

And THAT'S it. Really.

Okay, the family gathering was pretty nice. Steak dinner and relative peace, no pun intended. This time it was Maggie that was being a bit out of order rather than Sam... She seems to think that she can dictate everyone else's behavior while still being a brat herself. (Sigh) O well. In any event, my gifts were well received I think, though I rarely if ever get a significant reaction out of the family. The only real downer was I had a screamer of a headache right after I got up which lasted most of the time I was there.

Anyway, the loot!

I got a bunch of DVDs- Star Trek: The Motion Picture and The Wrath of Khan, the action flick 'The Rock', A classic, 'Brigadoon', and one other that is escaping me at the moment. Also in the haul was a die-cast model of the '60's Batmobile from the series, a... Thing... Called a 'Rabbit' which had three ears and three eyes(!) A shot glass with an embossed duck on it, and a wad of cash that'll help me replace the defunct (possibly repairable) La-Z-Boy.

Oh- I also got some scrapbook/photo album things... Pictures and notes on the family and on me- so people can either look and stare in shock, or laugh their heads off. ;) Kinda neat, but not necessarily something I'll be looking at frequently!

All in all a fair bit more than I expected.

I didn't get much of anything done today, though I did finally watch my rented copy of 'The Incredible Hulk'. Good movie, not quite on the same level as Iron Man though. It seemed kinda rushed to me. I also rewatched 'Wall-E' AGAIN. This is probably my favorite animated film now. :)

As to the headache thing, I was feeling kind-of dizzy for most of the evening. I finally knew what it was when I got to work- a migraine trying to set its hooks into me! Ibuprofin and several cups of strong tea later and it was suppressed, though still there in the background. As I write this I feel a lot better, but I'm really wiped out. At least the night is almost over.

Today I'll see how many ideas I have for Xmas shopping together, and decide on whether to order or go to the stores- that, if I go, will be sometime this week. Also today I plan to get the tree up. More than likely in the afternoon when I get up; Getting the tree out of the washroom closet in the basement in the morning would probably wake people up and result in my untimely death...

That's about it!

On Tuesday [livejournal.com profile] joshuwain, [livejournal.com profile] foeclan and I took [livejournal.com profile] feezlekahn out for his birthday; we hit Old Chicago for dinner (marred only by the table of screeching harridans by the door), then went to Best Buy and Half Price Books. It was a nice night, and aside from his gift I went and got myself something- 'Godzilla Raids Again' which is also known as 'Gigantis the Fire Monster'. Whee!

In other news, yesterday I picked up one of those rubber grooming brushes for Lady, to help her with the shedding issue- she's been having hairballs, so the more loose fur I get off of her the better. She likes it, and I should be able to build a third cat soon. O.o I also got them a new water bowl, one of those with the flanged bottom so Spaz can't dump it anymore!

Work is work, and I've decided to stay at Baker. It could be a LOT worse after all, and the walking isn't too terrible compared to the walking hells that Ive been on. Saturday is the return of the Vanguard game, which is slowly winding down to its conclusion, and Sunday is the second run of Ben's 7th Sea campaign! I'm looking forward to both, especially since I now can get actual sleep before the Saturday game!

Oh, and on Monday I made a roast REALLY late, inviting [livejournal.com profile] foeclan and [livejournal.com profile] feezlekahn to share in it. The roomies went out for food, and [livejournal.com profile] joshuwain was at a Fringe Fest play, else they would have been invited too. There was also chocolate cake. ;)
