I realized sometime yesterday that I had a HUGE flaw in my first adventure- why the frak is this crap happening in the first place? There has to be a reason, after all, and 'just because' ain't gonna cut it. So last night at work I sat down and tried to puzzle it out, and viola, I kan haz backstory! I know what happened why and where, who to and what came out of it now, and I also know more about exactly what my PC's will be facing. Woot!

I've also thought a bit more on magic and treasure- I think I know how I'll deal with the initial magic the PC's will have (starting out at 3rd level they WILL have some stuff), and I think I know who three of my PC's are for sure. I have to get answers from some others, but we'll see what comes of my plan for a mixed Saturday Group / Sunday Group party.

In other news, I made spaghetti and meatballs for me and [livejournal.com profile] joshuwain yesterday, and I have a snack-level amount left for later today. We yakked about the game some, and that is partly what got me thinking on some of this stuff.

Also, I'm getting a shift of overtime this week, which will appear on my next check (next Friday), which will help finish off some bills. I also got my birthday gift from the folks- my train fare to Midwest Furfest is paid, so I'll get the tickets later today. They're also covering the taxi fare from and to Union Station.

I may also get more overtime next week- there's a hole in the schedule that needs filling.

What's left for the game? finishing the roughs for the encounters, getting the monsters charted out, doing the same for the loot and experience, and some polish work on the world and city. Oh, and I suppose I really ought to stat out the major NPC's as well

Ugh. It is now just past noon and I can't sleep, and my stomach is communicating a less-than-pleased state. To make this the PERFECT day, I get to go into work at 3 PM for a double. Peachy. O well, I've done it before and I'll survive it... I just ain't gonna LIKE it. Feh.

So much for getting together online for City of Heroes tonight. Have fun, guys.

Umpf.

Well, yesterday was a mild pain. I got called into work at 3:05 PM- Apparently I was on the schedule for the second shift as overtime, but I didn't volunteer... The account manager just assumed that since I'd worked last Monday that I'd volunteered for THIS Monday. Bleah. If he'd asked I'd have been fine with it. But I found out when I was low on sleep, and I'd NO idea that I was supposed to come in.

My plans HAD been to clean and work on a car, but feh. To top it off, we had a major storm with golfball sized hail hit Minneapolis (it missed my place, fortunately), and there were BAD water-leaks in one of the buildings; commence headless-chicken act. :P

But its over and tonight I start my regular week. I can't wait til Sunday morning...

Saturday, I woke at 3 PM, still kinda sick but feeling better. I was looking forward to just kinda sitting around, trying to get a bit closer to healthy before work. I dragged my tail out of bed, and went to brush my teeth... just after I started, the phone rings, and I run to answer it, mouth full of toothpaste.

Me- Herrowff?
Account Manager (AM)- Mike? Can you come in?
Me- Now? I broffhing moi teef!
AM- As soon as you can- nobody showed up to work for second- as long as you can, and I'll be in to relieve you, so you won't have to work the overnight.
Me- Uh... I gueff. I can be vere avout pffiveish?
AM- Okay, good.
Me- I'll work fil one?
AM- You might as well get some extra hours...
Me- Sthill gettin' over thith cole!
AM- Okay. Thanks!

I hang up, finish brushing, wash my hair and get dressed. I make it into work in less than a half hour from the time of the call, at 4 PM.

As I walk into the office, the fellow I'm relieving is on the phone... Not a good sign.

It turns out that there is a crew scrubbing the lowest level of one of the two parking ramps which are part of the account, and they managed to blow one of the sprinkler heads by parking their compressor-unit with its exhaust directly under the head, thus setting it off as soon as it hit the trigger temp of 160 degrees f. So, the fire system is discharging all over the place from the blown head. Joy.

Note that we're getting NO alarms.

So, I take over, call my supervisor (the fella who had me come in in the first place) and the building on-call engineer and haul ass to the ramp to see what the situation is. I confirm it, realize that I have the wrong number for the engineer, haul ass BACK to the office, tell the engineer what's up, he says hes on his way and I go back to the ramp.

(Pant-pant-pant)

The engineer arrives and looks it over. he sends me back to the office to put the fire system on test, which I do, and then we spend time digging around to try and find the number for the company to repair the damn head.

We had to actually get one of the tags from the sprinkler room, cos it wasn't in either the security office, nor the engineering office. GAH.

Eventually, things got sorted and the night went quietly thereafter- but damn, I'm getting tired of having to deal with morons...

I got home just after one, and basically idled all night thereafter.

Fizzy...

Whee. Doing a double shift at work- Not too bad, really. I wish I'd been able to sleep first, though. 16 hours at work on zero sleep kinda stinketh. You know you're tired when you can hear a radio-static hiss and the radio is turned off...

But, the second wind (or the caffeine, whichever) his kicked in, and I'll make it.

Moneymoneymoney. :/

On Saturday I had to do a double-shift, because _I_ am GREEDY. (giggle) It wouldn't have been bad, but once again I couldn't sleep. O well, no biggie. It went fine, and was actually productive- Sunday was my alternate game night, and it was my turn to run an adventure- naturally, I had NOTHING on paper.

So, between rounds and such I pounded out the whole thing, save for one room which won't be a combat-encounter anyway. Oof. But, I got it done. Naturally, when i ran it Sunday evening, they got to the first room and we stopped. (grin)

Also, I discovered a strange ability to gain extreme clarity and lucidity- all I have to do is get into a conversation after not sleeping for 30 hours. Eek! Think I'll go with being unclear and confuzzled.

Whee!
