Well, I PLANNED to get started on the cookies last night... But during the Silver Mantis Strike Force I started not feeling too hot- mostly a relentless headache. I know what it was from- being low on sleep for two days! So I ended up crashing at about midnight or so... I woke at 7:30 AM today. O well, at least I'm feeling better!

Today is the Vanguard campaign, and tonight is day one of the last three before the con. I might not get as many cookies done as I wanted, as they have to be done and with [livejournal.com profile] joshuwain before I leave Wednesday morning, But I'll at least have some. :)

Oh I got a little more good news- due to how the new mortgage was calculated, I didn't have to pay November's payment either! So a lil extra cash in the bank.

Tomorrow is the next Buffy run, so its a busy weekend.

Today I'll learn when and where the closing will take place. It'll be Friday for the day, what's unsure is the time and location. I know the title company, and so far I know it's on 2nd Ave. South, downtown... I think. That could easily change if an office is decided on in another location.

I have to write closure letters for Citicard and the computer loan (and get them printed out), and I'm debating closing the Chase/Amazon Visa as well... But on that I'm waffling. If they want me to close it, its gone. Otherwise I'll put it away and not use it, just to have the record of it existing on the credit score. I also need to get the most recent credit card/loan statements together. Not really a big deal.

The remaining cash after the cards and loan are paid gets direct-deposited into the account after the 3 day right of recission... Meaning it'll hit my account Wednesday. :)

So its about done. I can't wait. :)

In other news Saturday is the Vanguard game, and SUnday is the next run of the Buffy Horror campaign- I'm looking forward to, and dreading, both. ;) Friday night will be a Strike Force with the Mana Dragons/Kyn Empire City of Heroes group.

I'm writing a REAL short 'story' thing for Vanguard, which should go live in the next few days. I'll post it here and on the [livejournal.com profile] vanguard_x site for people to read. I'm also putting up a long-delayed post from Goblin on 'her' Livejournal; that will only be on the Vanguard journal. That I dunno as to when it'll be done. Its kind-of an overview of everything that's happened and some of her thoughts. From the game perspective, it will appear in her journal just before the fight with Stormlord starts.

Other than that, I'm at work. On Friday evening the Halloween party went well, and on Saturday the Vanguard campaign run, while it had some rough spots went pretty good as well. The story thing addresses some of the stuff from that- its kind-of a fragment. The Sunday Buffy Horror run was cancelled, unfortunately, due to two players being unable to attend.

... Thats it for now. :)

The first of these was actually about three adventures, condensed a bit. And there had been a bunch of runs before that as well! Holy crap. Add to that the other games and the writeups for them and that's a lot of writing! In any case, here's Buffy Horror Number Twenty!

Buffy Horror 20: Out of Depth )
realsorien: (Default)
Weren't all that exciting. I had the meeting (this time he showed up RIGHT AT 9:30) on the refinance, and things look good for it to proceed. I need to get a bunch of things together for him to look over (W2's, last two paystubs, last two bank statements and I think one other thing), and from there he'll set up the assessment- apparently it has to happen due to new rules that have come out of the housing bust.

Other than that, Friday night was the Mana Dragons sort-of regular meet on City of Heroes/Villains. We did the Cap Au Diablo Tarikoss Strike Force; we had a total of 6 players, myself playing Wolf John (Super Strength/Invulnerability Brute). It was a lot of fun but given how rusty I was playing him I sort of felt like I was letting the others down- I died a LOT. At least 5 times. I did finally get the hang in the last two or three missions though. Wolfy is gonna get a respec, I think.

After that I Trick-Or-Treated with Capriline (Willpower/Super-Strength Tank) til I got the last of the Halloween badges, then randomly joined a team for the Citadel Task Force. It went mostly well, though the team was heavy on inexperienced players, had some drama that resulted in a player being booted from the team and had one other just randomly quit halfway through. Still, it was fun too.

Today was mostly me sleeping. I got laundry done and made a batch of chicken thighs and mashed potatoes, but I was the only one home for 'em. O well. Leftovers!

And now I'm at work. I may start writing up the Buffy run from last Sunday, and tomorrow will more than likely be... I dunno. I've some chores to do, and I need to start cleaning the house for the Halloween party on Friday- I managed to get Thursday and Sunday morning off, so I have a 4 day weekend and at least a day to get whatever's left to do, done.

So far, I'm making the turkey (14#, a little small but oh well) and mashed potatoes, and I'll get the cranberry sauce and gravy as well. [livejournal.com profile] foeclan is supplying a nice ham, while [livejournal.com profile] joshuwain is bringing some kind of beverage... I can't at the moment recall what. If you're coming and want to bring something, it'd be appreciated- if its something like chips, cheese, crackers, chips or anything that needs to be there before things get started, you can drop it off Thursday. You DON'T have to bring anything tho- but I do need to know if you are bringing stuff, so I don't go out and get it. :) I'll contact people this week too, to confirm invites and stuff. No, there weren't actual invitations- this year has been kinda tight, and I'm not as focused on things as other years.

I'm pretty much recovered I think. Still the residual cruds from the cold to hack out, but I've finished the meds and I feel pretty much okay, if a bit wiped out. I did have one side effect of powerful antibiotics show up Sunday evening... Which I won't go further into... But I think I'm lucky it didn't hit til after the last pill was taken.

Currently I'm at work, day two of my workweek. Not a lot is happening, other than the usual stuff. Parking is even worse than usual, as now I can't park on the meters around the damn building because they've bagged the damn meters- they're working on the building facade. Fooey. I hope this crap is done before first snow, or this is gonna really suck.

In City of Heroes, I've set myself a goal of getting my recent Villain on Pinnacle, Endure (Claws/Willpower Stalker) to level 50 so I can play with the VEATs (Villain Elite ArcheTypes) finally. At the moment she's halfway to level 46, so if things go right (and I play WAAAY too much this week) I could possibly do it by Friday. :)

In terms of my actual 'to do' list, I still need to finish the damn garage doors and clean/vacuum the back room and my bedroom, and get the last 7th Sea for the set written up. Next Sunday we start back into the Buffy Horror campaign, with all the requisite anticipation and dread that entails. ;)

On Saturday we continue the Vanguard Campaign's wind-down to the end, though thats a few runs to come I suspect. I REALLY want a denouement on the campaign when we get that far! Goblin is a character that I'd like to revisit at some point- not as a character, but as the character in this game.

And that's pretty much what's going on right now. Right on the edge, I am.

Okay, here's the latest episode! This went DAMN fast for some reason; Scotty tells me that I missed a chunk of conversation between 'Jacqueline' and Father Bishop, so that may get added if he gives me a rough of it- I think they were out of the room cos I don't recall it at all!

Manipulation Lament )
realsorien: (Default)
This was, I think, the longest writeup I've done so far for the Buffy Campaign, but I'm not sure. Regardless, it runs 10 1/2 pages in the word processor and is the sixteenth episode I've got chronicled. So here it is. Enjoy!

Past Echoes In Present Times )
realsorien: (Default)
Here's the latest run- this ended up being a bigger writeup than expected, as I got a lot more out of the notes via remembering stuff than I expected. Enjoy!

Violations Of Sanctity )
realsorien: (Default)
Okay, I've rewritten the whole damned thing after having lost it the other night. I've added a bit to it, and I think its actually a bit better this time around. Enjoy!

Our cast for this episode:

Player Characters

Jackie Tall- The only remaining female in the group, Jackie is a midget and a developing psychic, Jackie has made unusual associations in the campaign, that her companions don't necessarily approve of... Currently contemplating a change of majors to quantum physics.

Bill Vicklin- Unabashed comic-collector, scrounger extraordinaire and would-be vampire hunter, majoring in psychology and parapsychology; while he's right that there ARE vampires and monsters, he likely IS a bit crazy.

Michael O'Connor- A devout Roman Catholic, Michael in many ways is the moral center of the group... Not that he gets listened to as often as he should. Lacrosse player and possessor of the Cross of St. Peter, a powerful relic of the Roman Catholic Church.

Greg Poulte- A biker, and lifetime resident of the Arkham area, he has always been aware of the supernatural in the world, like Bill; unlike Bill, he's probably sane. but then, he's a lifetime resident of Arkham... A student of the Martial Arts as well. He has reopened his father's motorcycle repair shop recently, with Bill as an employee.

Gabriel- A new character in the story, not a lot is known of him other than he is a returning student to Arkham, and is quite aware ot the bizarre nature of the area. Sanity is questionable, given he IS returning to Arkham willingly...

NPCs

Eva Marie Saintly- A seminary student and Michael's study partner; also his girlfriend. An expert in the study of Catholic relics. She has lived in Arkham for several years, with her mother being an archaeologist and her father a former priest.

Dr. Howard Beck- A professor of quantum physics, Dr. Beck has offered to teach Jackie some of the more esoteric things that he has discovered in his researches... Like how to teleport... Currently there are more than one, and they are calling themselves 'Artemis Love'.

Carl the Janitor- Once a professor at the University, Carl's researches into alchemy and certain other areas of the occult ended up driving him partly insane and rendering him connected in a bizarre way to the University; he can die, but he comes back, over and over. He has used his alchemical abilities to concoct a number of mixtures that he uses both in his janitorial duties and to defend the grounds against supernatural threats. Most of the time, he seems absentminded, harmless and a little slow; but there are moments when his former brilliance shines through.

Gene Simmons- NOT the KISS bandmember, but a major fan who also is a world-class psychic, specifically a telepath. Gene is also an assassin-for-hire, previously having worked to the US government and the Cabal, led by Frau Schodt. Right now, he isn't exactly in the good graces of either of those groups... He was briefly Jackie's teacher in psychic ability, which her teammates were very upset about. He also drove their former roommate insane and tried to kill them...

Joe Oracle- Jackie's teacher in psychic abilities, Joe runs a psychic call-in show on the local radio station, giving his predictions using songs. Joe has associations with the US government's psychic espionage division, the same group who were connected to Gene Simmons.

The Intern- A pimply-faced young man whose voice is cracking due to puberty (maybe), he works at the station with Joe oracle. Nobody actually knows his name, and nobody has bothered to ask, either.

Blue- An Imaginary Friend. Blue is the mascot and apparent caretaker of the dormhouse at which Our Heroes dwell. He has unknown capabilities, is well acquainted with most of the bizarre phenomena of the area, and is well connected as well. A source of information as well; however, Blue is easily offended.

And here is the latest of the Buffy Horror runs. Yay, all caught up!

A Perilous Carnival )
realsorien: (Default)
Its been a bit since I updated things here, so here's a quickie with a cut. First off, I'll be posting the two Werewolf runs I've got to write up in the next few weeks; I've not been able to go online at work, and that's where I usually do my writing. Second, I'll have 'What I Did On My Five Day Weekend' up soon too- That'll explain a few OTHER things. lastly, Here behind the cut is the latest (First of this cycle and the first of the 'end of season' episodes) Buffy Horror Campaign run. However, this was NOT written by me; I wasn't at the run, so Scott L, the GM, wrote things up. Thus, read on behind the cut. As usual, all characters and the campaign are copyright their respective creators. ;)

Crossing Over... )
realsorien: (Default)
Here it is, the latest misadventures of Bill, Jackie, Michael, Greg and Alexis! Although Greg and Alexis are absent this time around... Anyway, here it is. Enjoy!

Buffy Horror- Served! )
realsorien: (Alternate)
And here we have the last of the Buffy Horror campaign posts for the just ended set; next up is the Traveller Campaign run by Mr. G.- I'm not sure if I'll write those up or not. This was a lot more work than planned! Anyways, what happened after Lazlo popped out of the basement is below. :)

For A Few Yen More (or Less) )
realsorien: (JumpGoblin)
Well then- the AC was still icing up so I had Reliant send out the serviceman again- he recharged the system again (a bit of a cheat, but we don't KNOW its leaking for sure), and now its back to working properly. As implied above, he suspects what I suspected- there's a leak in the lines somewhere. To trace it and fix it DOES cost somewhat, but it'll be a LOT cheaper than replacing the unit! So, we're gonna see if we can make it for the next month as-is, and get the trace-and-repair job done next spring. If we NEED it this year... I'll bite the bullet and get it fixed.

Onto other things- the problem that existed between me and a friend mentioned in previous posts has for the most part resolved via discussion and cooling-off. Obviously, there is prolly a problem that should sometime be adressed, but not right now. We both know that there were misunderstandings, and we've botn stepped back and reassessed so that we're past it and are back to normal. So THAT'S kinda solved, for those who were worried. :)

Next, as people who read this thing are aware I've been doing more writing- mostly game-run synopses and such, but its good practice and ANY writing helps your ability. I've been trying to work on doing in-story dialogue and 'written perspective', two things I'm BADLY deficient with. The next things coming up are the summary of the last run of the current cycle of the Buffy Horror campaign, and then some journal entries for the [livejournal.com profile] vanguard_x group, which I'm referring to as the 'Goblin's Guide to Vanguard' posts. :) I hope to have one or two of those up before Saturday, and with luck I'll have the Buffy run finished and 'live' here by Friday. With THAT one I need to talk to the players for details I can't recall.

Lessee, what else... Oh! The power supply for my old Ibook Indigo crapped out- we think its a busted wire or the like in the cord. But... [livejournal.com profile] ataramos found a refurbished one online, and now its back running! Hee- all I need now is to replace the battery and it'll be (almost) better than when I got it! ...Well, except for the blue rubbery bits of the case starting to peel off...

This weekend the Vanguard game returns, run by [livejournal.com profile] joshuwain; Our Heroes have travelled to Fey in pursuit of the maybe-or-maybe-not Evil Threat personified by the EPOCH computer persona, currently possessing the form of a formerly-comatose man PREVIOUSLY possessed by the formless stimulus-junkie called Shayde! Shayde may or may not STILL be in there! Join us for the next exciting episode within the Archipelago of Fey for... "Mountains of Madness from Molehills"! Be there!
realsorien: (Default)
Ah, the industry that insomnia inspires. Not only did I get all the Vanguard pre-posts done, I also got this finished; the latest chapter of the Buffy Horror Campaign! I'm not sure of the order of a few minor details, but for the most part this is all of it. Once again, its behind a cut due to size. :)

Epilogue and My, what a big GUN you have... )
realsorien: (Alternate)
This is a good thing, I think. :)

Yesterday was pretty good, other than being woken early. We (me, [livejournal.com profile] joshuwain and [livejournal.com profile] foeclan took [livejournal.com profile] ataramos and [livejournal.com profile] feezlekhan out for their respective birthdays, which were yesterday and Friday, respectively. First it was to the stores for giftage, then to Khans Mongolian Barbecue for food. It'd been a LONG time since I'd last went, and its gotten better since then- I'll prolly go back relatively soon. I think a good time was had by all, even tho my evening was topped off by going to work. :P

In any event, today is the Buffy Horror game. Yay! We'll see how massacred we get this time.

I have to thank Scott L. (ye olde GM) and Mike M. for some input on the previous monsterous gamepost. Thanks, guys. :)

Oh- I had dinner tonight at [livejournal.com profile] joshuwain's, with him, [livejournal.com profile] feezlekhan and [livejournal.com profile] foeclan- Beef roast (supplied by [livejournal.com profile] joshuwain), steamed broccoli and italian bread (supplied by me). Food good. :)
