Okay- I got the hotel room locked down for MFF for Wednesday to Monday. I have 2 beds arranged, so woot. Now to confirm person #2, and to determine if anyone else will be in there with me beyond that. In other news, I got my state tax return on Tuesday, which is the fastest I've ever gotten it- I only filed on the 1st! Now I just have to figger out how I'll be getting there. I've heard that if I do the overnight run on Megabus its both low-ridership and cheap as dirt, so I'll be looking at that as well as the train, and maybe going by car as the last option.

This should be a good con- I'll have a bit more money than last year, especially if I try to sock a bit away in addition to the funds I'll have from the tax return. Woot!

Oh, and as a totally unrelated note to the roommates- I may have a bunch of 60 watt bulbs shortly, via the folks membership with on of the big warehouse stores- I can't recall if its Sams or the other one. I'll also have the long florescent bulbs. Not sure when, but likely before midweek next week.

I've been REAL lazy with updates. The last was after the Holiday Party... Uff. I actually meant to update on a daily basis! Anyway, here's whats been up.

Snow.

Clearing Snow.

Work.

Drama at Work.

Reading! I've started the Sookie Stackhouse series- you know, the stuff behind True Blood on HBO. Better than I'd expected, even if there are WAY too many vampires. I also reread the Otherworld series, and the latest of the Jane Yellowrock series. There is a collection coming out in February with a previously-unpublished Dresden story, and in March the next Dresden novel comes out, as does the next Mercy Thompson book. Woot!

Gaming! Slow month here, we skipped this last Sunday due to plaerus nonattendus, but we finished the Western Campaign arc the run before. I'll try to get it written up before the next meet.

MMO's! I played City Of Heroes with the Going Rogue expansion for a month, and had fun. I'll prolly go back again at some point. However, I'm doing DC Universe Online now, and its a lot of fun. I had MASSIVE trouble initially (totally different controlset from what I'm used to, little bits of stupid in the game, little bits of stupid on my part), but now I think Its gonna last. IF Sony backs it like an MMO needs.

I get to clear snow tomorrow after work, which is gonna suck but shouldn't take too long.

And that's about it for now. Off to work!

* Kaiser Wilhelm had NOT supported his treaty obligations after the assassination of Duke Ferdinand, instead pushing for a peaceful settlement of the matter? (I think WWI would still have happened, but it would have been delayed)

* The Allied Powers had listened to Wilson and NOT crushed Germany's economy with war reparations, and had instead rebuilt the nation?

* The Weimar Republic had prevented Hitler from becoming Chancellor of Germany?

* Chamberlain had vigorously opposed the annexation of the Sudetenland?

* Britain and the USSR hadn't placed Mohammad Reza as Shah of Iran in WWII?

* The State of Israel had been founded by negotiations with Palestine, rather than annexation? Or alternatively, what if the new State of Israel had been created on neutral territory elsewhere in the world?

* Castro had not been treated as a pariah by the United States and had been instead offered support and friendly relations?

* Eugene McCarthy had withdrawn from the 1968 race for the president and supported the candidacy of Humphrey?

* The United States had made a concerted push to switch to renewable energy during the 1973 Oil Crisis?

* The hostage rescue in Iran under Jimmy Carter had succeeded?

* Gore had won against Bush Jr. in the 2000 election?

* The focus of power had remained in Pakistan after 9/11, rather than being diverted into a profitless invasion of Iraq?

Your result for The Perception Personality Image Test...

HFPS - The Humanitarian

Humanity, Foreground, Big Picture, and Shape

You perceive the world with particular attention to humanity. You focus on what's in front of you (the foreground) and how that fits into the larger picture. You are also particularly drawn towards the shapes around you. Because of the value you place on humanity, you tend to seek out other people and get energized by being around others. You like to deal directly with whatever comes your way without dealing with speculating possibilities or outcomes you can't control. You are in tune with all that is around you and understand your life as part of a larger whole. You prefer a structured environment within which to live and you like things to be predictable.

I said this again today on FurryMUCK to someone, and I think I wanna post it here. This sums up my 'faith' as it were, and how I hold things to be. If you disagree, I honestly won't denigrate your beliefs, but I believe THIS and I really don't give a fuck if you think I'm wrong. ;)

God, if you ask me, created the universe probably with the physical rules, laws, structures and probable originating reactions that science is finding, winding things up and watching the show. I'm certain there is a TON of things we've still not seen, or that we have and can't yet comprehend. He's waiting for someone to make it all the way to his level. Then, he'll open the door to the Victorian drawing room he's in, show whomever or whatever they are in, and say "I'm glad you could make it; I've been waiting a long time. Tell me about yourselves; we have forever, you know."

My God isn't an asshole who's just waiting to take everyone's toys away.

I'm at work right now, typing away on the laptop and writing my report when I hear a slight sound; I look towards the sound, which is coming from behind the printer- there, looking at me is a mouse! I was NOT expecting that, and JUMPED a bit, and so did it, vanishing behind the office backup computer; I looked but it'd vanished. I went back to writing the report, and sure enough it peered out again, then calmly walked across the desk and through a hole in the back of the security console.

I'll bring the camera again tonight and see if I can get a pic. ;)

Not that it's gonna be around long. I'll have to tell 'em its in here, and the traps will follow.
